For years, Tamer struggled to provide for his family, earning a meager 10,000 YER per fishing trip\u2014an income that barely covered their basic needs.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cI was living in despair, thinking about leaving the country to find a better life for my family. I felt helpless and hopeless,\u201d Tamer recalled.<\/p>\n\n<p>But everything changed when Tamer learned about a productive asset grant project through local community committees. Tamer nominated for the grant and was soon selected as a beneficiary. The project, part of the Increasing Resilience and Sustainable Improvement of Food Security and Livelihoods intervention, funded by BMZ in partnership with DKH and implemented by ADO, aimed to empower fishermen by providing modern boats, engines, and fishing assets.<\/p>\n\n<p>Tamer applied for the grant and was selected as one of the beneficiaries. He received a fiberglass boat, a 15-horsepower Yamaha marine engine, a Magellan device, two fishing nets, and five lifejackets.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cThis grant was a lifeline for me and my family. It completely transformed my life,\u201d Tamer said.<\/p>\n\n<p>With the new equipment, Tamer could venture into deeper, more abundant fishing areas and use more efficient nets. His daily income skyrocketed, reaching between 150,000 and 300,000 YER per trip, which he shares with his fellow beneficiaries according to local maritime customs.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cNow, I can meet my family\u2019s needs and even save for the future,\u201d Tamer shared.<\/p>\n\n<p>The impact of the grant extended beyond finances. Tamer regained confidence, improved his family relationships, and provided a better life for his daughters.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cI feel happy and hopeful again. I\u2019m optimistic about the future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n<p>Tamer\u2019s story is a testament to the transformative power of targeted support.
